Christian Worldview, Philosophy, and Theology
I completed a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and during my time there I developed a love for helping Christians grow in loving God with their mind. I am currently attending seminary and hope to be involved in Christian education in some capacity in the future.
I favor a socratic teaching method. This developes clear thinking while at the same time teaches important subjects for all Christian students, and especially ones planning on attending a secular university in the future.
I have a lot of experience teaching college age and adult Christians, and would love to teach high school and younger ages as well. It is amazing how much young students can handle, and how beneficial growing in clear thinking and the intellectual foundations of their faith can be.
Please contact me at 952-949-9601 or ptswanson@gmail.com for more information or a link for an audio file of a class I recently taught at my church. I would love the opportunity to teach some eager young students.

Lessons In Guitar, Double Bass And Electric Bass
I teach acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass and double bass to students ages 10 and up. I specialize in classical, jazz, blues, folk, and latin styles. I received a Master’s degree in music from the U of M and have played with many local classical, jazz, latin, gospel, and R&B ensembles for over 15 years. I currently teach at Bethel University and have been teaching private lessons at K & S Conservatory in Woodbury since 1990.
My teaching approach is disciplined and yet age-appropriate and flexible. My instruction emphasizes learning the fundamentals such as sight reading, chording, bowing technique, and theory, giving the student a solid base to explore his or her musical interests while having fun.
One-hour or half-hour lessons are available. Home lessons are available for an additional fee depending on location. My studio is located in south Minneapolis. Violin Lessons
I am currently accepting new students into my home studio in East St. Paul. I teach children of all ages and adults. I love starting beginners and also enjoy teaching through to the advanced level. My method of teaching is a combination of Suzuki and traditional.
As a young adult, I studied privately with David Madison, Associate Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. I attended Temple University and received a Bachelor of Music Violin Performance Major. I played full time with the Kansas City Symphony for 5 years. Upon moving to the Twin Cities 22 years ago, I became an active freelance violinist playing for the Minnesota Orchestra, North Star Opera, and South Dakota Symphony as well as for ballet companies, shows, and recordings. I am the founding member of the Evergreen String Quartet.
I have been teaching violin for six years. Besides teaching in my home, I also teach at The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music. I have attended the String Academy at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and studied violin pedagogy under Mimi Zweig and Darcy Drexler.
My husband and I have four children, all of whom we have homeschooled.

Our Mission Statement:
To help you along your Vocal Journey to “healthy vocal production” through self discovery and exploration!
Our teaching philosophy and style:
We believe for a student to sing and perform at their full potential, they must learn how their voices work. We put the student in the driver’s seat. We don’t just run songs, we teach a singer how to maximize the potential of their full voice with proper vocal technique. This on-going process allows the voice to grow in a healthy way so it will bloom and strengthen over time. The student’s understanding of how the voice works is of the utmost importance to us. We’re invested in the long-run, the journey of vocal alignment, not just a fast fix.
If you have students or children that are interested to begin studying voice, or are looking for a more intense focus with their vocal studies - then we are here for them!
OR:
If you yourself would like to further your vocal journey - we’re also here for YOU!
Call, or visit our website TODAY to find out more information and begin your vocal journey with us!

Sewing
Do you have a pile of mending somewhere in your laundry room but no time to take care of it? Is the zipper broken on your favorite pair of jeans? Are you constantly in a bind when you need to get dressed up because you never got around to hemming that pair of pants or skirt? Has your active child gone through all of the knees of his pants? Did you buy the fabric to make curtains and then never got it done?
If you have sewing needs, I can help! I have a degree in Apparel Design and Manufacturing. I am a single homeschooling mom of three looking for extra income. I would be happy to manage your mending pile, take care of your simple alterations, and help you finish those projects (you know the ones) that you started and can’t seem to find the time to finish.
For more information, please contact me privately at kingsacademy@earthlink.net
I am also interested in teaching sewing to children either individually or in a small group. If this is something you would like to explore, please contact me privately at the email address above.

Part Time Day Care by Homeschooling Mom
Do any of these situations sound familiar?
Are you tired of losing an entire school day to appointments, field trips, or other scheduling glitches?
Have you taken advantage of your best homeschooling friend a few too many times when you needed last minute childcare?
Are you exhausted from the pressure of “creative scheduling” so you can juggle a job while teaching your kids?
Is your preschooler driving you crazy while you attempt to teach your older child? Are you feeling guilty about using the TV as a babysitter?
Do you just wish you could do something for yourself a few hours a week-maybe take a class or do some freelance work-and still homeschool your kids?
If so, please keep reading.
I am a single homeschooling mother of three who is looking for extra income. I’m looking for homeschoolers who need part time childcare in the west metro area. I prefer ages 3 and up (potty trained), but will consider younger siblings. I have 7 years of homeschooling experience, I have homeschooled children from two other families in the past, and I have 5 years of experience teaching in an academic homeschool co-op. I am also available for homeschool-friendly childcare/babysitting by appointment during the week for busy moms who need to do things without the whole gang such as take kids to appointments, attend field trips with older/younger siblings, or <gasp> get their Christmas shopping done early. You send the schoolwork and I make sure it gets done! I have 3 computers available for school use, so I can also accommodate MNVA students. My sister, who is living with me while she finishes her master’s degree in child and family studies (her degree is in early childhood development), has a happy 3.5 year old who would love to “do school” with your preschooler. If you would like more information, please contact me privately at kingsacademy@earthlink.net
